- In 2019His Imperial Royal Highness Sandor Habsburg-Lothringen, Archduke of Austria, awarded Max the Empress Maria Teresa Grand Memorial Cross for consultancy services rendered to the Imperial Austrian family at the Hofburg Imperial Palace of Vienna.
- In 2022Max J Ellul was awarded the highest honour of the International Flame of Peace, namely the Medal of Merit in Gold, for his work in the field in question. The International Flame of Peace is headquartered in Vienna, Austria and the Medal of Merit in Gold is fully recognised by the Austrian authorities.
